“Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,
And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.”
Devotional
Satan’s first great target is often our faith. He wants us to doubt God’s goodness, question God’s love, and accuse God when life becomes painful. Job had lost more in one day than most people could imagine losing in a lifetime. Yet his first response was not rebellion—it was worship.
Job did not understand everything that was happening, but he still trusted the character of God. He knew that everything he had belonged to the Lord. His possessions, his family, his health, and even his very life were in God’s hands.
Faith is not proven when everything is easy. Faith is revealed when life falls apart and we still say, “Blessed be the name of the LORD.”
Reflection
When trouble comes, do I run toward God or away from Him?
Is my faith built on God Himself, or only on the blessings He gives?
Prayer
Lord, strengthen my faith when I do not understand what You are doing. Help me trust Your heart even when I cannot see Your hand. Keep me from blaming You foolishly, and teach me to worship You in every season. In Jesus’ name, amen.
