“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another:
and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
God never intended Christians to live isolated lives. The church is not just a building; it is the gathering of God’s people around God’s Word, for worship, fellowship, service, and encouragement.
The sermon asks a serious question: if you had twelve hours left to live, would you want to know that you were part of a Bible-believing church? Would you want to know that your church stood on God’s Word from Genesis to Revelation?
A true believer should desire fellowship with other believers. The world pulls us down, but God’s people help stir us up “unto love and to good works.” Yes, churches have imperfect people. There have always been hypocrites and failures among God’s people. Judas was among the twelve. Peter denied the Lord. Yet Christ’s church continued because it was built upon Him.
Do not let the faults of people keep you from obedience to God.
Are you faithfully assembling with God’s people, or have you allowed excuses, hurt, busyness, or hypocrisy in others to keep you away?
Lord, thank You for the church. Help me not to forsake the assembling of believers. Lead me to be faithful, humble, and encouraging. Help me to be part of a church that teaches and obeys Your Word. Amen.
Make a commitment to be present and engaged in your local church this week. Don’t just attend—encourage someone, pray with someone, or ask how you can serve.
