Scripture Reading: Job 1:4-5 KJV
“And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.”
Devotional
Job was not only concerned with his own walk with God; he cared deeply about the spiritual condition of his children. The Bible says he prayed and sacrificed for them continually. He wanted his family right with God.
Satan often attacks families because he knows how painful those wounds can be. He uses division, bitterness, temptation, rebellion, grief, and discouragement. He wants homes filled with anger instead of prayer, distance instead of love, and confusion instead of faith.
But Job gives us an example: keep bringing your family before God. You cannot control every decision your loved ones make, but you can pray. You can live faithfully. You can point them to the Lord. You can remind them that God is still on the throne.
Reflection
Am I faithfully praying for my family?
Is there any bitterness, division, or neglect in my home that I need to surrender to God?
Prayer
Lord, I bring my family before You. Protect them from the attacks of Satan. Save the lost, restore the backslidden, heal the broken, and strengthen the faithful. Help me to be a godly witness in my home. In Jesus’ name, amen.
