“For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
Satan attacked Job’s body with painful sores from head to toe. Physical suffering can become one of the hardest tests of faith. Pain, sickness, weakness, aging, anxiety, depression, and exhaustion can wear us down.
The enemy wants us to believe that suffering means God has forgotten us. But Scripture reminds us that the outward man may perish, while the inward man can still be renewed day by day.
This body is temporary, but the soul belongs to eternity. One day, every pain will be gone. Every sickness will be healed. Every tear will be wiped away. Until then, God gives strength for today.
Where do I need God’s strength in my body, mind, or spirit today?
Am I focusing more on temporary suffering or eternal hope?
Lord, You know my weakness, pain, and weariness. Renew me inwardly day by day. Help me not to faint under affliction, but to keep my eyes on eternal things. Thank You that this suffering is not the end of my story. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Take five quiet minutes today to rest, breathe, and meditate on this truth: “The things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
