“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Devotional
Job was a wealthy man, but Satan stripped away his possessions in a moment. Satan knows that finances and material things can become a powerful tool against us. If we have much, he tempts us to trust in it. If we have little, he tempts us to spend our lives chasing it.
Money itself is not evil, but when it becomes our master, it pulls our hearts away from God. Satan wants us distracted by getting more, keeping more, and worrying over what we do not have. But Jesus reminds us to lay up treasure in heaven.
Everything on earth is temporary. Houses, money, possessions, careers, and status can disappear. But what is done for Christ lasts forever.
Reflection
Am I trusting God with my finances, or am I living in fear and worry?
Has the pursuit of earthly things distracted me from eternal things?
Prayer
Father, help me to remember that everything I have belongs to You. Guard my heart from greed, pride, and fear. Teach me to be faithful with what You have given me and to seek first Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Action
Look for one practical way to be generous today—through giving, helping, encouraging, or meeting someone’s need.
