“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Devotional
Job’s friends came to him in his grief. At first, they sat quietly with him. But eventually, they began to accuse him and discourage him. Sometimes Satan uses people—even people close to us—to speak words that wound, confuse, or weaken us.
The battle is spiritual. Paul reminds us that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. Our enemy is real, and his attacks are intentional. That is why we must put on the whole armor of God.
We cannot stand in our own strength. We must stand in the Lord and in the power of His might. The attacks will come, but God has given us truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, His Word, and prayer.
When Satan attacks, do not lay down your armor. Stand.
Reflection
Am I spiritually prepared for the attacks of the enemy?
Have I been trying to fight spiritual battles in my own strength?
Prayer
Father, help me put on the whole armor of God. Give me discernment to recognize the enemy’s attacks. Strengthen me through Your Word and prayer. Help me stand faithful, no matter what comes. In Jesus’ name, amen.
