The Purpose of the Law
Scripture Reading: Romans 3:19-20 (KJV)
Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Devotional:
The law serves to reveal our sinfulness and our need for a Savior. It cannot justify but leads us to Christ, who fulfills the law’s demands. Understanding this purpose reminds us of our dependence on God’s grace and highlights our need for Jesus every day.
Reflection:
How has understanding the purpose of the law influenced your view of righteousness and grace? How does this shape your relationship with Christ?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for giving us the law to point out our need for Your grace. Help me to live in light of Your truth, always seeking after Your heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action:
Read Psalm 119 and identify verses that highlight the purpose and beauty of God’s law.
