Scripture Reading (KJV)
Romans 8:28
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Devotional
God’s plan for your life is not something He is scrambling to figure out as you go. It is already designed. The issue is rarely that God is silent; often, it’s that we are still fighting for our own way.
The preacher in the sermon shared how he told God, “I can’t preach. Call me to do anything else.” He even said he’d scrub the church commodes—just not preach. But the turning point came when he finally said, “God, I can’t, but You can.” That’s when God began to unfold His plan and use him in a way he never thought possible.
Romans 8:28 doesn’t say all things are good, but that all things “work together for good” to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. That means every disappointment, delay, closed door, and deep water is part of a larger, loving plan shaped by a God who does not lie and never fails.
The question isn’t: Does God have a plan? He does.
The question is: Am I willing to surrender my plan so His can be fulfilled in me?
Reflection
Prayer
Lord,
I confess that I often want my own way more than I want Yours. Forgive me for fighting against Your plan. Help me to trust that You truly work all things together for good when I love You and walk in Your purpose. Teach me to say from the heart, “God, I can’t, but You can.” I surrender my desires, my timing, and my understanding to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action
Write down one area of your life where you’re struggling to trust God’s plan (a relationship, a job, a decision, a fear). Under it, write: “God, I can’t, but You can.” Pray over it and intentionally surrender that area to Him today.
