Scripture Reading: Psalm 23:1-3 KJV
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”
Devotional
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” That is not just a comforting phrase—it is a declaration of trust. David understood that God was not only his Protector but also his Provider.
We live in a world that pushes self-sufficiency. We are told to rely on our own strength, our own plans, our own resources, and our own ability to make things happen. But when we rely on ourselves more than we rely on God, anxiety begins to grow.
God knows what His children need. He provides serenity: “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.” He provides direction: “He leadeth me beside the still waters.” He provides restoration: “He restoreth my soul.”
Sometimes God’s provision is not what we expected, but it is always what He knows we need. The Shepherd does not abandon His sheep. He leads, feeds, restores, corrects, and sustains them.
Reflection
What need are you anxious about right now? Have you brought it honestly before the Lord, trusting Him as your Shepherd?
Prayer
Lord, You are my Shepherd. Forgive me for trying to carry everything by myself. Teach me to trust Your provision and Your timing. Lead me beside still waters and restore my soul. Help me to believe that You know what I need before I even ask. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Action
Make a list of three ways God has provided for you in the past. Keep that list somewhere visible as a reminder of His faithfulness.
