Scripture Reading (KJV) Psalm 105:8–11
“He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;
And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:
Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance.”
The psalmist reminds us that God remembers His covenant forever. He made promises to Abraham about a land, a people, and a coming Messiah. To Abraham it must have looked impossible—he was old, his wife was barren, they owned no land, and yet God promised descendants, a nation, and an inheritance.
From Abraham to the Israelites actually entering the Promised Land was about 500 years. Generations came and went, circumstances rose and fell, but God did not forget. While people saw delay, God was weaving a perfect plan. He was not only giving a land; He was building a nation and preserving a line through which Christ would come.
We often grow discouraged when God does not answer in weeks or months. We may wonder if He has forgotten us, forgotten our prayers, or forgotten His Word. Psalm 105 reminds us: He has remembered His covenant for ever. God’s memory does not fade. His promises do not expire.
Praising God includes remembering and rehearsing His promises, even when we have not yet seen them fully come to pass. When we praise Him for what He has done and what He has promised to do, our faith is strengthened, and we honor His faithfulness.
Faithful Father,
Thank You that You remember Your covenant forever. Forgive me for doubting Your timing and questioning Your faithfulness. Help me to trust that You are working, even when I cannot see the full picture. Bring to my mind the promises of Your Word, and teach me to praise You for them, whether I see them fulfilled yet or not.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Write down three promises from Scripture (for example, John 14:1–3; Hebrews 13:5; Romans 8:28). Keep that list where you will see it during the day. Each time you see it, stop and audibly thank and praise God for each promise, as if you fully believed it right now.
