“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”

Devotional

Our hope is not in this world. Governments change. Money fails. Health weakens. People disappoint. Circumstances can shift in a moment. But Jesus Christ remains our blessed hope.

Paul wrote with confidence even while facing suffering and death. Why? Because his hope was not chained to his circumstances. His hope was in the appearing of Jesus Christ. The same is true for every believer. We can endure trials because we know this world is not the end of the story.

Jesus gave Himself for us to redeem us from all iniquity. He saves, purifies, and prepares His people. One day, every sorrow will end. Every battle will be over. Every tear will be wiped away. Until then, we keep looking to Christ, trusting Him, and living as people who belong to Him.

  • Where am I tempted to place my hope besides Jesus?
  • How does the return of Christ change the way I face today’s troubles?
  • Am I living as someone redeemed and purified by Christ?

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for being my blessed hope. Help me not to put my trust in this world, but in You. Thank You for redeeming me and making me Your own. Keep my eyes fixed on Your appearing and help me live faithfully until You come. Amen.

Action

Take five minutes today to quietly thank God for your salvation and the hope of Christ’s return. Then do one good work as an act of worship to Him.
