Scripture Reading – John 14:6; John 8:31–32 (KJV)
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31–32)
Jesus does not merely teach truth—He is the truth. He is the only way to the Father. There are not many paths that all lead to God. The road is narrow, and He Himself is that road.
Our culture calls that narrow-minded. Jesus calls it reality. God’s love is wide enough to include “whosoever will,” but His way is still one way—through His Son’s death and resurrection.
The preacher said, “I’m not looking for hope, I’ve got hope. He lives right here.” When Christ lives in you, you are no longer hunting for truth in a world of shifting opinions. You have the Truth dwelling within you and the Word of truth in your hands.
Jesus promised that if we continue in His Word, we will know the truth and the truth will make us free. Free from deception. Free from the slavery of sin. Free from the burden of having to invent our own standards and carry our own guilt.
But notice the condition: “If ye continue in my word.” Freedom is not found in a vague belief in God or a one-time religious decision. It is found in a continuing, obedient relationship with Christ and His Word.
The question is no longer merely, “Do I know what truth is?” but, “Am I walking with the Truth, day by day?”
Lord Jesus,
You are the way, the truth, and the life. There is no other way to the Father but by You. I confess that I have sometimes treated Your Word lightly and Your truth as one opinion among many.
Today I surrender afresh to You as my Truth. Teach me to continue in Your Word, to live by it, and to trust it more than my feelings and the world’s wisdom. Let Your truth make me truly free—from sin, from fear, and from deception.
I ask this in Your precious name, Amen.
Set a concrete plan to “continue in His Word.” For the next week, choose a specific time and place each day to read at least one chapter of Scripture (start with the Gospel of John if you like). Write down one truth you will obey that day. Treat this plan as a non‑negotiable appointment with the Truth Himself.
