The ranger in the story turned off his radio because it was “disrupting” his presentation, not realizing it was his lifeline. A grizzly bear was stalking him and the children he was leading, and the warning was coming across the very device he had silenced.
God’s Word is like that lifeline for us. We are not walking through neutral territory. We have an adversary, a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. We also have a sinful nature and a hostile world. To turn down the volume of God’s voice in such a world is spiritually reckless.
Psalm 119 calls the Word a lamp and a heritage. It shows the next step in the darkness and reminds us who we are and whose we are. When we disregard Scripture, we not only endanger ourselves but also those we influence—our children, grandchildren, church family, and friends.
Keeping the Bible central in your life is not a religious hobby; it’s a matter of spiritual safety, direction, and legacy.
Heavenly Father, thank You that in a dangerous world, You have not left me without light or warning. Help me to treat Your Word as my lifeline, not as a disruption. Let my life, home, and church be places where the Bible is believed, read, obeyed, and loved. Protect me and those I influence from the enemy as we stay close to Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
