“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt offering: It is the burnt offering, because of the burning upon the altar all night unto the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in it.”
Devotional
The book of Leviticus reminds us that God is a God of order, holiness, and instruction. When He spoke to Moses about the offerings, the priesthood, and the altar, He gave specific commands. God did not tell Moses, “Do it however feels right.” He said exactly what was to be done.
That truth still matters today.
While we no longer bring animal sacrifices because Jesus became the final and perfect sacrifice for sin, God still calls His people to obedience. We are not meant to reshape His Word to fit our comfort, preferences, culture, or convenience.
A church on fire begins with people who take God seriously.
Sometimes our spiritual fire fades because we have slowly stopped doing things God’s way. We pray less. We read less. We worship casually. We obey selectively. We justify sin. We treat God’s commands as suggestions.
But fire falls where God’s people prepare and obey.
Reflection
Ask yourself honestly:
- Am I trying to serve God my way or His way?
- Are there areas of Scripture I ignore because they challenge me?
- Have I become casual toward God’s holiness?
Obedience is not always easy, but it is always right.
Prayer
Lord, forgive me for the times I have treated Your commands like suggestions. Help me to take Your Word seriously and obey You with a willing heart. Teach me to serve You Your way, not mine. Prepare my heart for the fire of Your presence. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Choose one area of obedience you have been neglecting—prayer, Bible reading, forgiveness, worship, giving, witnessing, or purity. Take one specific step today to obey God in that area.
