“Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,
There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?”
Philip saw the size of the crowd. Andrew saw the smallness of the lunch. But both nearly missed the greatness of Jesus standing right in front of them.
That is often what crisis does. It gets our eyes on what we lack, what we fear, and what seems impossible. We begin measuring the problem with human resources instead of remembering the power of God.
The lad’s lunch was small, but in the hands of Jesus it became more than enough. The issue was never the size of the meal; the issue was whose hands held it.
Whatever crisis you are facing today, do not forget who is with you. Jesus is not overwhelmed. He is not confused. He is not limited by what you have or do not have. Bring Him what you have, even if it seems small.
What situation in your life feels “too big” right now? Are you looking more at the problem or at Jesus?
Lord Jesus, forgive me for focusing more on my crisis than on Your power. Help me to remember that nothing is impossible with You. Take what little I have and use it for Your glory. Amen.
Write down one burden you are carrying today. Pray over it and say, “Lord, I place this in Your hands.”
