Be Still and Know

Scripture Reading: Psalm 46:10-111 KJV
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”

Devotional
“Be still” is not merely a suggestion to slow down. It is a command to cease striving, to stop fighting against God, to lay down our attempts to control everything, and to recognize who He is.

We struggle against God more often than we admit. We struggle when we ignore what He says. We struggle when we try to do His will our way. We struggle when we invite sin into our hearts. We struggle when our will takes the front seat and His will takes the back seat.

But God says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Peace does not come from having everything under control. Peace comes from surrendering to the One who is in control. The Lord of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. He will be exalted. His purposes will stand. His name will be glorified.

Being still before God does not mean doing nothing forever. It means stopping long enough to surrender, trust, listen, and obey.

Prayer
Lord, help me to be still and know that You are God. Forgive me for striving against You and trying to control what belongs in Your hands. Teach me to surrender fully, trust deeply, and obey faithfully. Let Your peace rule in my heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Set aside 10 minutes today with no phone, no noise, and no distractions. Sit quietly before the Lord. Pray, listen, and surrender one specific area of your life to Him.
